Driving down the coast during a massive Pacific swell which triggered the Mavericks Surf Contest, I noticed the line of waves stretching out to the horizon. I'd never seen the swell lines so consistently lined. A small offshore breeze gave the waves a mist feathering off the back. Although shot in color, I felt this image really portrays the power and mystery of the Pacific coast.

This image was made right off the famous highway 1 near Pescadero, California.
